GENERAL CARE FOR YOUR JEWELRY

Regular Professional Check

Periodically have a professional inspect your jewelry for damage or wear.

Remove During Activities

Take off your jewelry when engaging in activities that could scratch or damage it, as well as before going to bed.

Chemical Avoidance

Avoid contact with chemicals, especially chlorine. If contact occurs, rinse your jewelry with water.

Lotions and Perfumes

Apply lotions and perfumes before putting on jewelry, especially if you have organic gemstones like pearls and opals.

Proper Storage

Store jewelry separately in a soft-lined box or case to prevent tangling, rubbing, or scratching. Ensure chains and necklaces are fastened when storing to avoid tangling.

Protect from Environmental Factors

Store your jewelry away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and damp conditions, as they can lead to discoloration and increased tarnishing.

CLEANING GEMS

Organic gems like pearls, coral, and amber are softer than mineral gemstones and require special care.

Do not use steam, boiling, or ultrasonic cleaning tools on organic gems, but rather clean them by gently rubbing with a soft cloth dampened with warm water, avoiding submerging them.

Dry gently to avoid moisture buildup in drill holes and knots.

Porous gemstones, including Pearl and Emerald, should not be submerged in water and must avoid harsh products, as they can cause discoloration and damage.

For semi-precious gemstones like Amethyst and Sapphire, clean with warm soapy water and a jewelry cleaning brush, avoiding ultrasonic and steam cleaning.

Treated gemstones like Howlite and Lapis should be gently wiped with a soft, non-abrasive cloth and kept dry, while avoiding contact with alcohol-based products that can alter their appearance.

Ultrasonic and steam cleaning are not recommended for treated gemstones.

CLEANING SILVER JEWELRY

Sterling silver jewelry naturally tarnishes over time. To maintain it, use a soft, lint-free cloth to polish and buff the metal, and specialist cleaning solution or a mixture of lukewarm water and washing-up liquid.

Soak, scrub gently, rinse, and air dry. Alternatively, you can use a white vinegar and water mix for stubborn tarnishing.

Prevent tarnishing by wearing silver jewelry regularly and keeping it in separate airtight bags.

CLEANING GOLD JEWELRY

Use a cleaning solution designed for jewelry or a mild degreasing solution with lukewarm water.

Soak the gold jewelry, gently clean with a soft-bristled brush, and rinse thoroughly.

Avoid using hard abrasives, and be gentle, especially around stone settings.

CARING FOR SILVER- AND GOLD-PLATED JEWELRY

Silver- and gold-plated jewelry may show wear, especially on frequently used components, due to daily wear. Storing plated jewelry in a sealed plastic bag when not in use can help maintain its condition.

Handle delicate jewelry pieces with care during cleaning to prevent tangling or scratching.
